Saturday Club at Ormeau ParkSaturday Club at Ormeau Park

The ParkLife education programme helps children and their families get outdoors and explore nature in Belfast's wonderful parks.

The programme is run in partnership with  Belfast City Council.

To date, over 20,000 young people have been discovering nature on their doorstep through monthly Saturday clubs, events, summer schemes and seasonal, outdoor education sessions in parks across the city.

We also provide practical training for teachers and Belfast City Council Park Wardens to help deliver interactive outdoor learning activities

Saturday Clubs

We run free monthly ParkLife Saturday clubs in:

  • Falls Park
  • Woodvale Park
  • Ormeau Park
  • Tullycarnet Park
  • Tommy Patton Park
  • Fullerton Park

The clubs meet monthly, on alternate weeks, in park bowling pavillions and are suitable for children aged 7 to 12. Younger children are welcome but must be accompanied by an adult.

Each month we explore a new challenge, from mini-beast hunts to bird identification, with lots of games and crafts too. As well as being great fun, the clubs help children keep fit and get active outdoors, learn more about the world around, build confidence and develop a sense of ownership. Once all challenges are completed, your child will become a Junior Park Warden!

Times: Falls Saturday Club takes place from 2pm -3.30pm, and all the other clubs from 10am-11.30am.

Cost: Free. Booking is essential.

School Park Visits

School sessions take place at a variety of parks across the city and offer children seasonal-themed visits and a chance to learn about a range of topics such as animal and bird survival, how trees change with the seasons and history and heritage in our parks.

Our school visits are designed to complement the Key Stage 2 curriculum.

ParkLife Teacher Resources

We have developed a range of seasonally-based resources, including activities and games, for teachers and youth leaders to use when visiting your local park.

We hope that you will find these useful tools to support and encourage you in continuing to introduce and inspire your pupils to the natural world beyond the classroom!
