Young Environmental Leaders Wanted

Over the last 4 years Ulster Wildlife and the Belfast Hills Partnership have been involving young people in action for nature through the Our Bright Future programme. Not so long ago young people, across 30 similar “Our Bright Future” projects throughout the UK, were asked:

If you could change one thing for you and the environment, what would this be?

Their answers were distilled down to three key policy asks:

Ask 1: More time spent learning in and about nature

Ask 2: Support to get into environmental jobs

Ask 3: Policy makers, employers, businesses, schools and charities to pay more attention to the needs of young people and the environment

Ulster Wildlife will provide young people that want to get involved in supporting this campaign with free Young Environmental Leader training sessions led by campaign experts.

So if you are aged 16-24 and would like to know more about this exciting opportunity to influence decision making for a greener future then come and join us:

Our Bright Future

Our Bright Future is an ambitious and innovative partnership led by The Wildlife Trusts, funded by the National Lottery Community Fund, bringing together the youth and environmental sectors. It is formed of 31 projects across the UK. Each project is helping young people aged 11-24 gain vital skills and experience and improve their wellbeing. At the same time, they act as catalysts for delivering change for their local environment and community; whilst contributing to a greener economy. The projects are hugely diverse but with one unifying theme: the focus on young people and the environment

There are two Our Bright Future projects in Northern Ireland, one run by the Belfast Hills Partnership and one by Ulster Wildlife (Grassroots Challenge).
