Ulster Wildlife is seeking a volunteer Wildlife Gardener to help create a Community Wildlife Garden at the entrance to Bog Meadows Nature Reserve.

Main tasks for Wildlife Gardner Include:

  • Preparation of site for planting
  • Weeding
  • Creating raised planting beds
  • Seed sowing
  • Creating a wildlife pond
  • Light joinery work

 

Skills required:  

  • Enthusiastic and good interpersonal skills
  • Be reliable and trustworthy
  • Ability to follow procedural guidelines and undertake online training
  • A good team player
  • Interest in or willingness to learn about gardening for biodiversity
  • Ability to complete gardening work
  • Uphold the good reputation of Ulster Wildlife

 

Ulster Wildlife will provide volunteers with all the necessary information, training, supervision and support to carry out this work.

Hours: Monday 9.30am -12.30

Expenses: Volunteers can claim for reasonable receipted out of pocket expenses and Ulster Wildlife will provide the necessary materials to carry out the role. Volunteers can claim mileage at 45p per mile up to a 30 mile return trip per day.  Public transport costs will be reimbursed on provision of a valid travel receipt.  Volunteers should aim to take the most economical mode of transport possible.
