Community projects

The Living Seas Community Engagement Project is an innovative and exciting project which launched in May 2012

Since then, our Living Seas Officers have been touring all around Northern Ireland organising community events on and around the shore, developing the ‘Living Seas’ vision, delivering education sessions, both indoors and outdoors, to schools throughout Northern Ireland and working with local community groups to pioneer voluntary protection of our coasts and seas.

As well as engaging local communities and so working toward voluntary marine and coastal protection, our events enable people to contribute to citizen science work - for example, our work under the Shore Thing intertidal recording project helps create valuable datasets about the impacts of climate change on intertidal species.
