New Leaf Compost dig deep for community garden

A huge thank you to New Leaf Compost who have very kindly donated ten tonnes of peat-free compost made from green waste to our Community Wilding Garden at Bog Meadows Nature Reserve.

Our thanks especially to Sharon McMaster, from New Leaf Compost, for her very helpful advice on its usage.

The compost has been put to good use in the raised beds and the planned perennial beds by our dedicated team of local volunteers, in preparation for planting out this spring with herbs, wildflowers, and edible fruits.

The community wildlife garden at Bog Meadows is being created as part of the Our People Our Places project, thanks to a grant from The National Lottery Community Fund Northern Ireland

Choosing peat-free compost for your home and garden is one of the best ways to protect our precious peatlands, which are both amazing wildlife habitats and incredibly valuable carbon stores.
