About the event

Led by an experienced volunteer guide, hear all about the Observatory and its role in collecting data on migratory and breeding birds for conservation purposes.

Witness the observation burrows of Manx shearwater, which flock here in their thousands every spring. See the colourful puffins which also breed here along with eider duck, black guillemots and an array of gulls.

As well as amazing birdlife, enjoy a spectacular display of wildflowers and seals. You might also be lucky to see dolphins or porpoises on the boat journey.

Please note: this tour is not suitable for people with mobility issues. There are no surfaced paths on the island and the terrain is rocky with numerous steps, slopes and rough areas. You must have the physical ability to get on and off the boat unaided.

This event is suitable for adults only. Older children, aged 12 plus, with an interest in birds and nature, please contact us to book.

Please wear suitable clothing and sturdy grippy footwear for an outdoor event, on uneven terrain, and be prepared for all weather conditions.

As this a full-day event please bring everything you need for the day: lunch, drinks and snacks as there are no amenities on the island.

The boat is fully licensed and is one of the Observatory's experienced charter partners. The boat trip is subject to weather conditions and could be cancelled at short notice. Refunds will be provided in this instance.

A qualified first-aider will be present on board the boat and on the island.

This event is exclusively for Ulster Wildlife members. When booking, you will be asked to provide evidence of your membership. A waiting list is available and you will be notified if a place becomes available.
