FieldDay renews pledge to help 5,000 households make space for nature

County Down home fragrance company FieldDay has renewed its partnership with Ulster Wildlife, pledging to help 5,000 households make space for nature through the charity’s ‘Let Nature In’ wildlife gardening campaign

Now in its second year, the partnership is helping more people discover how small, simple changes can transform gardens, terraces, and balconies into wildlife havens, from planting pollinator-friendly plants to leaving water and offering natural food sources for birds.

In addition to encouraging people to sign up for free wildlife gardening advice, the collaboration is also supporting practical training to help communities create more wildlife-friendly spaces.

Since the campaign launched in 2022, more than 3,800 households have signed up to receive wildlife gardening advice. Around 1,000 of those have come since FieldDay partnered with the charity last year, helping to extend the campaign’s reach. This year, the partnership is building on that progress by supporting wildlife gardening training for housing associations and local councils, helping more people put advice into practice.

Maureen Carvill, Wildlife Gardening Officer at Ulster Wildlife, said:

“With one in nine native species at risk of extinction in Northern Ireland – including once-common species such as hedgehogs and house sparrows – our gardens have an important role to play in helping nature recover.

“FieldDay’s support is helping us reach more households with practical advice and take our work a step further through wildlife gardening training for housing associations and councils. By giving people the knowledge and confidence to make their outdoor spaces more wildlife-friendly, we can help create more places for nature to thrive. We’re delighted to continue this partnership and work towards our goal of encouraging 5,000 households to ‘Let Nature In’.”

Alix Mulholland, Founder of FieldDay, added:

“We’re delighted to renew our partnership with Ulster Wildlife and continue supporting nature and local communities. Helping people make their outdoor spaces more welcoming to wildlife is a natural extension of our ethos. Whether it’s a public space, garden, terrace or balcony, Ulster Wildlife’s practical advice and training show that everyone can play a part in helping nature thrive.”

Everyone who signs up to Ulster Wildlife’s 'Let Nature In’ campaign will receive a free digital pack, packed full of information to get started, plus seasonal advice and tips to help bring more nature into their outdoor spaces.
